KALPA, a Society for Promotion of Literature, Art, Culture and Social Harmony, (Registerd under the Societies Act XXI of 1860) initiated in the year 2008 started a Festival of all Major Indian Dance traditions for young exponents entitled Pragjyoti Dance Festival : A View of Indian Dance by Young Proponents since 2009. The festival is aimed at contributing towards integration and harmony through art and also providing an avenue to young classical dance talents. It is worthwhile to mention that, our region being located in the farthest corner of India is yet to find a prominent space in the festival map of Classical Art, Music and Dance in particular, as in several other regions despite its rich cultural heritage. The Pragjyoti Festival will go a long way in creating an environment and thereby contribute in promoting Classical Art in our region. The Festival has received great accolades from the connoisseurs of Indian Arts all over and has been a platform for the promotion of young dance exponents and a space for social and cultural convergence. During the last two Festivals dancers from different parts of India and abroad (Bangladesh, Nepal, Japan, Russia, U.K and U.S, Ukraine, France) have taken part. The Festival received wide appreciation from the dance loving public and media all over the country and is acclaimed as one of the prestigious dance festivals of the country.
